Los Angeles Adult Entertainment: Bobadilla takes over city manager reigns for the long haul
EL MONTE – The City Council named native son Rene Bobadilla city manager Tuesday and he hopes the title will stick for a long time.
“I want to retire from the city of El Monte,” Bobadilla, 38, said.
The council voted 3-1, with one abstention, to give Bobadilla, a civil engineer, a three-year contract for $170,000 a year.
The decision came after a stream of El Monte residents and business owners sang Bobadilla’s praises for more than an hour. Residents called him “hard-working,” “honest,” “proven,” “a favorite son,” and “one of the best things to happen to this city.”
“Mr. Bobadilla has a passion for this city that no other manager has had,” said resident Marian Powers.
Bobadilla held the post on an interim basis since October, when former city manager Jim Mussenden resigned after being arrested in a prostitution sting.
