Los Angeles Strip Clubs: Miami Couple Robbed While in LA for Oscars
A man posing as a hotel worker at the Four Seasons hotel near Beverly Hills robbed a Cuban-born sugar baron and his wife Friday night as they attended Oscar festivities.
Jose “Pepe” Fanjul and wife Emilia were riding up in the elevator when a man in a blue uniform with ‘hotel’ written on his shirt started to talk Spanish to Pepe. They both got off on the same floor, and Pepe and his wife went into their suite. They then heard a knock on the door. It was the man in the elevator, who said, ‘I am here to fix your air conditioner.’ They let him in, and he took valuables including Emilia’s jewels — thought to be worth millions — and fled. Fanjul is said to be an inspiration for one of the male characters in the book that bred the 1996 Demi Moore film Strip Tease.
