Then there was the time when a series of three billboards advertising Westlund’s strip club the Pony was causing a ruckus along Highway 61 near the Tennessee-Mississippi border. The first billboard read “Got Beer?”; the second billboard read “Got Boobs?”; and the third read “We have both. The Pony. The Ulimate Strip Club.”

Back in Memphis, the Shelby County Commission prepared an ordinance that would outlaw the sale of alcoholic beverages in strip clubs—including Westlund’s three, the Pony, Downtown Dolls and the recently-shut-down Black Tail Shake Joint.
